  1. ROBERT H ROSE, MSG ARMY (RET) says:

    SIR:
Happy Veterans Day tomorrow and Happy Marine Corp Birthday today! I was opcon to USMC for 90 days in RVN. Our unit was moved to the DMZ on LSTs to help them in Hue during TET! B Troop, 3rd Squadron 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division. I arrived at the unit after the move, however, we were in some sort of combat op almost everyday with the Marines. I will always be impressed at how tactically proficient and down right brave these men were. I would be behind the 50cal on an M113 trying to engage but the Marines were already firing and maneuvering toward the hedge rows in I Corp. I would have to slow them down until I could bring our vehicles online and then assault through with them between vehicles. So save me a piece of cake on this important day!

Just thinking of you while watching FOX news about the Arlington 3RD Infantry Caissons. Apparently they have one of their horses up for adoption. Her name is Elvira (I think). I thought maybe you may want to check it out!

Again Sir…Happy Veterans Day…and Happy Marine Corp Birthday! Semper Fi!

“Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimal food or water, in austere conditions, training day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn’t worry about what workout to do – his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about ‘how hard it is;’ he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn’t go home at 17:00, he is home.

    He knows only The Cause.

    Still want to quit?”
